Plate Confidentiality

I just gave my car to my son-in-law. I have (had) confidentiality on the plates. Does anyone know if the confidentiality automatically goes away when a car is transferred or do I have to take it off?

It should go away when transfered through DMV.

My department requires members to notify Personnel of any changes that would affect confidentiality such as divorce in order to update the DMV.

I just called DMV at the number provided by non sequitur and they said once the vehicle is sold and either a new plate or registration is completed, the confidentially is removed for that vehicle. In my case, I transferred the disabled plates on the vehicle I sold to the new vehicle I bought. I was given new plates for my truck (bought the new one prior to selling the old one) that I sold and confidentiality was removed due to that process.
