Body Armor

Fellas,

After generally using an outer carrier for a vest throughout my career, I'm looking for recommendations for the following (my issued armor
is just too bulky and big for a suit)

Small minimal protection 3A (small surface area)
Comfort that does not add bulk.
Flexibility
Reasonably priced

I'm wearing a suit day in and day out, any recommendations would go
along way! I've asked around my office, and Velocity Systems Vests (out of Virginia) are the way to go, but I know there has to be other companies out there!

Armor in a suit sucks. You'll going to pay a price for having something that's concealable and semi flexible while wearing a suit, there's no way about it. Doing soft armor would be fine, but you still have to find something fairly small (I'm sort of thinking of US Armor's concealable offering).

I wear the Velocity's ULV plate set under a dress shirt and coat when I have to, and it's true. Velocity works great. You'll pay top dollar for it though.

What carrier are you using along with those plates?

I was thinking of patching together my own kit with 10x12 3a plates. But i guess I should just bite the bullet and order it. Less of a headache.

I'm using the Velocity ULV carrier w/ their special plates. I don't think they list them on the website anymore, you may have to email them for options and pricing (mine are work issued).

I'd just order the carriers from Velocity. Im not a gear queer but I have looked around for other carriers for more of a high pro solution and there wasn't an easy option. Velocity/Mayflower PCs work very well and are comfortable.

Are you looking for armor for concealable-daily-all shift wear or just for a scene?

For a scene: ditch the tie and throw on an external carrier.

All shift wear: look at the US Armor soft armor. If you are within driving distance of the plant, go get fit there...worth it.
