    Respectful Question on SC shooting

    Hello,

I am hoping that I could get feedback on a VERY hypothetic situation. IF I were in SC and witnessed an officer unloading into the back of a fleeing man, and IF I were legal CCW, I really don't know if I could stand by and just watch. IF I were to interject in the situation with a NON-Lethal shot to the officer (say in the dominant shoulder) what would be likely to be my fate in the legal system?

    Thank you.

I bet that you are correct. Why would I ever think that I could get an adult, objective, real answer to my honest question on Calguns?

Lethal force is lethal force, no matter what your intent. A CCW is not a license to enforce the law, and or interject yourself into a situation you may not have all of the facts of. I suspect that if you were to act as you describe you would be charged.

Keep in mind the situation in SC is a extremely rare event, coming upon the scene or even witnessing the scene there is no way you can know what the entire situation is. Take for instance that the person you observe being shot is a suspect in multiple crimes, who is escaping after the officer learns that he is a suspect, you shoot the officer, believing that the officer is not justified to shoot, what do you think the out come will be?

You sir are a nincompoop. Everyone knows that the proper action it to shoot the gun out of the bad guys hand.

How do you even know which shoulder is his dominant one? He could be shooting offhand just to trick you into shooting the wrong shoulder.

As always, Shoot the gun out of his hand.

I'm sorry, you can't get a "serious" answer when you ask such a laughable question. Shoot him in the dominant shoulder? LOL! Where do you learn this stuff?

                Hypotheticals are not often useful.

Posting this question in this particular forum is not the most tactful move, and since most police are not also practicing lawyers, the question is outside the expertise of most.
