what do you think? reverse racism?

I am a white guy, i am an honarably retired sergeant with years of experience including at a college setting. I am looking to get a job, so I applied at a college for a police officer position in oct, i received a reply a few weeks ago saying thanks but no thanks? So they now flew the position again but are only advertising on a hispanic job site and an asian job site, seems to me they denied me an interview simply based on my race.... That seems fishy to me? What say you?

Law enforcement agencies are pushed to have certain groups in certain percentages within their ranks. As for your case, who knows.

If they, in fact did that- possibly reverse racist, IMO.

Unless they are looking for special skills, Chinese speaker etc..

Do you have any LEO experience? I'm guessing that might be a factor....

Nothing reverse about it, you appear to have been rejected based on your race.

IMHO, same thing happened when I applied to the FBI in the early 1990s.

They were only hiring attorneys and accountants. I am an attorney from a military college and a top 30 law school. Top four of my graduating class at the citadel, top 10% of law school, familiarity with weapons.

Questions like "it's a semi military command structure, are you comfortable with that?" Are you comfortable with firearms. Would you object to carrying a firearm.

They claim I tanked the interview, but I was there and I didnt.

It's the only job I ever interviewed for that I didnt get.

I figure it's effed up from a consent decree standpoint. I decided it wasn't worth my time to fight to get in.

Ahh, well, that would qualify. Sounds more like age discrimination. Based on the fact that every retired LEO Sgt. I've ever known was extremely crusty/old, you may not be the "young pup" type they're looking for.

There is no such thing as reverse racism (I know the term is used). Racism is racism no matter the color of the victim.

Good luck in your endeavors and stay safe.

I know what was intended. It just makes me laugh like when magazines are called clips.

Saying reverse racism when a white person is the victim of racism is implying that racism is only against non-whites.

Try to remember that much of the media still looks to William Randolph Hearst and Joseph Pulitzer as role models. Unfortunately, over the last 10 to 15 years, this has increased.. They should only be referred to in hushed tones by respectable journalists.

When I lived in SoCal, I applied for a sheriffs department.. Pass test, show up at the physical agility, and I was waiting in line next to a black gentlemen.. He proceeds to tell me that, he's not sure why he's there, he failed the written. But somebody called him and told him to show up anyway... The best of the best I guess. .
