    Bay Area - SJPD - LODD - 2015/3/24

SJPD Officer Michael Johnson - EOW 3/24/2015

Officer Michael Johnson was truly a great guy, and a great cop. He was the kind of cop to give cops a good name; always fair and honest.
He was also a fellow firearms enthusiast.

He recently rotated back to Patrol from an Investigations assignment and wouldn't have it any other way (except maybe range master).

A native of the San Jose area, Mike's father is a retired police officer here in CA. If you've ever shot rifle in the police olympics or police & fire games, then you probably shot with him. When he wasn't spending time traveling and being with friends, he was training or competing - "turning lead into gold" (in his words).

Mike was always generous with his time and often brought new shooters to the Metcalf range in south country. He will truly be missed.

I will update the thread with memorial announcements as they become available.

Please join me in saluting 14-year veteran police officer, and my friend, Officer Michael Johnson who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving the community he loved.

                          RIP Officer Johnson.....

                          Very sad.....

In the other thread someone mentioned he was a CalGunner. If any of you knew him, perhaps you could let Kes know.
^^^The above is just an opinion.

RIP to Michael. All LEO's know the risk, however it still sucks when something like this goes down. It sure doesn't endear LE to the populace, and it makes it that much more difficult on those of us who support 2A. Uber, sorry about your friend. Hope your holding up. My best friend is a Sergeant with my old dept. If something happened to him, I'd lose my mind.
