    32 Magnum

Picked up a used S&W 432PD Airweight in 32 Magnum (the price was right). Was thinking of replacing the S&W 642, carried with 38+P Short Barrel GDs with the 432 for Back-Up. The rational being one extra round and easier to control in the airweight J frame. What are your thoughts on the 32 H&R as a back-up round?

I don't know much of anything about the 32 magnum round; but I will say that if you are faster/significantly more accurate with it then switching to the magnum may have some merit. I do know some of the "experts" such as Dr. Roberts don't recommend anything less than .38 special due to terminal performance of the smaller rounds.

The limited research I have done puts it on par with a 38 special (non +P). The one extra round of six instead of five in the J frame had me thinking.

Department policy is .38 / 9mm or larger.

A female officer once brought in her mother's gun for me to take a look at. It was similar to the S&W Model 36 but in .32 S&W Long.
