Team, first I am a non-LEO, hope you don't mind my asking some questions.
Background, my wife and I run a CCW accessories shop. We will be advertising in the AOCSD magazine June issue and would like to make sure what we carry is what our LEO community would want. We are in Mission Viejo.

When looking for a concealed carry rig, what are the 5 key things you look for?

What kind of retention do you prefer in a CCW rig for off duty carry, back up gun.

Do you prefer Kydex, injection molded, leather, nylon or hybrid holsters?

What thing don't you like about popular rigs.

What kind of gun do you carry off duty.

Belly bands are convenient, iwb holsters similar to crossbreed, appendix carry, small pocket holsters with a clip

I personally have a preference for Kydex. Simple, single clip, AIWB holster. I have one for my off duty G30SF and I'm happy with it.

It probably wouldn't hurt to drop a flyer off at your local PD's/SO inquiring on what they're looking for. You could show your face and see if they could pin it up on a few bulletin boards in briefing rooms.

For the IWB like crossbreeds, or the all kydex holsters, do you usually want a thumb break strap or other type of retention or no?

I ask because we wouldn't normally carry them for civilian use, but have heard different things on departmental rules for retention.

I just got my first kydex holster that i wear when doing EP work, seems to be very nice, nice fit, easily concealable and a quick draw. what i have yet to be able to find is a holster that i can workout in, like running etc, none of the belly bands do a good job of retaining the gun when doing exercises

What type/size gun? Carrying and extra mag?

Have you tried a compression T-shirt with holster? I carry the Packin Tee, but 5.11. and Under Tech also make similar products.

If you want to separate yourself from the rest, you should carry a couple belts meant for holsters and gear while looking somewhat normal or regular (riggers belts, 5.11 belts don't pass this smell test). Hard to find places that stock those regularly.
