    Got my TX LTC

Thought I'd share my timeline for any new expats to TX who may be be getting theirs. Of course, YMMV. This is my first TLC in Texas. I have all the dates recorded because I was checking the status page everyday.

    Feb 18
All completed class documents/application and prints submitted to DPS

    March 3
Green status page showed up on the DPS/LTC web page.
All check lists received with BGC under review and License print pending review

I have no idea why the "(out of state only)" stuff is on there. I live in TX and I'm a resident of the state. lol
But reading other Texas LTC forums, apparently that's standard to show that on the status page.

From applying to having my LTC in hand, 24 days total.
Not bad at all given that DPS has 60 days to get your license to you.

    Cost breakdown:

All-in-one LTC class which includes shooting proficiency - $70

    Fingerprinting fee - $10

    LTC application fee - $40

    Total cost: $120

Initial LTC is good for 4 years, then good for 5 years each renewal(s).
No limit to how many you can carry.
