Any Southern California to South Carolina Transplants?

    Hi all:

I have been researching possible states to move to to get out of Commifornia. I've been studying a lot about South Carolina. I've only been to Charleston and have not seen the rest of the state but I've also worked in North Carolina so I know a little about that part of the country. So many things about SC appeal to me, very Red, pretty religious, nice people,
lots of corporate headquarters. The weather, other than the humid Summers appeals to me. Not bothered by bugs or snakes, love the history of the state and like the idea of leaving the frantic Nihilism of LA for a more relaxed pace of life. Love all of the hiking, fishing, hunting, gun stuff of course, but also camping and
    exploring.

Been exploring the idea of Rock Hill versus Lexington versus the Greenville area. No interest in living on the coast, I prefer the mountains and trees, but the idea of being close to Charlotte's businesses and the international airport and not being too far from Research Triangle Park is what appeals about Rock Hill.

Anyone here who moved to SC from SoCal?

Northern Georgia, dude. That’s where it’s at right now. Northern Georgia. There you have elevation and with elevation comes relief in the summertime and a little itty-bit of snow in the winter.

Which cities/areas are you talking? I've worked in Atlanta, gone through a Tropical Storm/Hurricane there and I can unequivocally say that I hate Atlanta.

Blue Ridge, Ellijay, Helen, pretty much everything around Lake Lanier and the Chattahoochee Forest. That whole area is blowing up.

That area looks absolutely beautiful but very small and rural. If I was retired, looks very appealing.
But I still have to work and make a living and large corporations are my company's clients so I have a feeling if I was in such an area, I'd have be out of town most of the time doing work.
