What did you leave in California?

I'm starting to put together a list of things that should stay in California, been working on it for a little over a year now.

    1. Atheism
    2. Gun regulation
    3. Marijuana
    4. Self-centered behavior

Now I was never athiest but I stopped going to church about the time they brought in a lesbian pastor.

Gun regulation is, "I believe people should be able to own firearms but...".

Marijuana is self explanatory and I know there's people who still function, but ya'll can always move to northern California.

Self-centered behavior: Stop and talk to your neighbor or at-least wave at them instead of looking straight forward and not turning your head as you speed past. See if the older folks need help with anything, they have years of wisdom that will help you in return.

We'll be in TX in July.

We're leaving behind (in no particular order) -

    1.) Soft on crime

    2.) Sanctuary cities

    3.) Over taxation and regulation

    4.) Skyrocketing cost of living

5.) Out of control gas prices (get ready for $8 gas)

6.) Graffiti on nearly every friken wall

    7.) Exploding homeless population

    8.) Trash on the streets

    9.) Leftists dystopian/disastrous policy decisions

    10.) Super liberal majority

    11.) Whinny liberals

    12.) Insane L.A. traffic

    13.) Horrible roads/infrastructure

14.) Arrogant, pompous, superiority complexes and rude people

15.) Piss-poor government spending, mismanagement and deficit

16). The relentless attack on the 2A

17.) Illegal immigrants having more rights than the citizens

    18.) State income tax

    19.) Push for socialism

20.) Shunning of God in our schools

That's just off the top of my head. I'm sure there are plenty more.

Now, the things I will miss -

1.) Our folks and other family here. But coming back to visit or them coming out us to visit is only a quick 3 hour plane trip away.

2.) Weather. The ONE thing Kalifornia has going for it.
However, we don't surf nor ski...much less on the same day, so this is a moot point and has quickly fallen to the bottom of reasons to ever stay here.

Love the summers here in Idaho. Plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy, and the sun doesn't completely set till around 10 so plenty of time to enjoy them. Much nicer than where I lived in CA (San Ramon), and less people, traffic, crime, and homeless. Wish I'd have moved earlier.
Always looking for vintage Winchester and Marlin lever action rifles. Looking to sell? Know of one for sale? Drop me a line!

            High Utility Prices
            High Gas Prices
            High Insurance Prices
            High Gas Prices
            Bad Traffic
            Piss Poor Laws
Drug users and bums on the street
School Shootings (My son was present at Santana that day and saw 3 of his friends shot)

I do miss In & Out, Roberto's and Rubios.

It's about 70 here in Jerome County and I just finished having a few beers with a 1/2 dozen or so neighbors.
We'll have another beautiful day tomorrow.

It may depend on where in TX you plan to live

                3.) Over taxation and regulation
Be prepared for high property taxes and if you live in a skyrocketing property value area, taxes going up considerably every year.
Still likely waaaay below the state income tax you will not have to pay

                4.) Skyrocketing cost of living
Cost of living increases will be the same. Cost of living due to state government wastefulness will go way down

                10.) Super liberal majority
The Super liberal people are very vocal but considerably in the minority

                11.) Whinny liberals
Still around in Texas but mostly ignored

                12.) Insane L.A. traffic
Stay away from Dallas, Houston and Austin but really it's just during commute times (and not really that bad compared to SoCal or the SF area)

14.) Arrogant, pompous, superiority complexes and rude people
You'll find them everywhere no matter where you go

16). The relentless attack on the 2A
Eventually, you will go to the gun/sporting goods/hardware stores and say "I don't need to buy any guns today, it's just fun to see what I CAN buy today"
Enjoy the fact that you can see a gun in the store, buy it and shoot it on the same day and people look funny at you when you mention "roster"

                Additionally
Hoarding grocery bags, but stay away from the Austin area if you don't want to pay for your grocery bags

Saving aluminum cans and beverage bottles. You can simply put them in the recycle bin.

Keeping your home air conditioner off when it's 95 degrees outside because it's before 9PM
Leaving it a 72 degrees 24/7 in the summer doesn't cost much at all

I was getting eggs for around $4/dozen when prices were getting up to $8. Grass fed beef is about the same as what ever the grocery store is selling regular beef for. It took some work building up a network of farmers and ranchers, but going directly to the source really cuts down on my grocery bill. We're in a good area for fishing but I figure I spend a good amount on fuel and tackle for the fish we get.

True, just like it is too damn short to spend any time in California (unless you're visiting).

                            Drive-by shootings. Those really sucked.
Illegals walking through my property and leaving trash, clothes and dumps behind.
DMV fees, damn how I hated that crap.
BLM rangers whose mission in life was to make life suck for you as much as life sucked for them (that one fat lesbian ranger can go straight to hell, I hope you lost your job lady).
                            State income tax.
                            Local sales taxes.
Idiots and jackasses and thieves on city councils - yeah, still have a few here but much less of an impact. So far.
                            Fleas.
                            Ants.
                            Ticks.
                            Rats.
                            Mice.
                            Smog.
Traffic. (best memory on that was years back when activists declared "a day without a Mexican". Traffic dropped fifty percent and it was a nice drive that day, kinda backfired on the activists lol)
                            Parking fees on the coast.
                            Camping fees in the mountains.
Dealing with THE DAMNED PLANNING PERMITS.
Neighbors from New York and M*******s.
Rezoning your nice old neighborhood to a multi-family, high density zone. Lobbying funded, of course, by out of state developers.
CARB. Those *******s can suck a dick.
                            CHP revenuers.

I can go on. But I'm enjoying this amazing morning right now and I think I'll go outside and sit in the sun, and watch a bush plane or two fly overhead, watch the hound get her zoomies out of her system, and continue with the woodshop projects and rifle projects. Oh, also gotta prepare for the 4x4 Meet and Greet show.
                            Yeah.

                            I'm pissed.
WTB: Rhodesian A5 FN 12G Shotgun...ah, never mind. Prices have become stupid...
WTB: FN FS2000..don't care anymore about this one either.
