    Expats with CA CCWs

I am curious to know if there are any ex CA residents who had or have a valid CA CCW when then left CA and who would be interested in attempting to renew their CA CCW, assuming that their permit would not have otherwise expired based on the permit's normal expiration date. Please send me a PM if you fit within these criteria and would be willing to be a party to a lawsuit to force CA to change the address on your CA CCW license to your outside of CA address and thereafter renew your CA CCW license.

when I left California it was before you were able to get a CCW in Alameda county. I'm curious how an out of stater could get one. I believe there is a legal challenge right now, we will see.

Yes, there is a legal challenge. It is in the CRPA case against the LASD and the judge has already ruled that California must issue CCWs to nonresidents. As a first step, a nonresident with an unexpired CA CCW could apply to simply change the address on his or her license and see how the issuing authority (IA) reacts. Then there are those, like myself, who could not renew because they no longer reside in California and would like to renew rather than apply for an initial license.

As far as how an out of stater could get one, go to https://michellawyers.com/wp-content...Injunction.pdf and read the proposed order. So far, I can't find a signed copy, so I'm waiting. The proposed order allows nonresidents to take the required class online, and I have located two trainers who have an approved online class. As for the live fire requirement, they have to let you complete that within 75 miles of your out-of-state residence. The only other requirement is that the applicant must state that they intend to visit the jurisdiction of the IA within the following 12 months.
