    Fort Worth area?

Anyone else leave California for DFW? Been out here two years. Curious where you like shooting at?

Wife and I have been in Arlington since 2015. Before that, Chico for 30 years. I have been to Defender Outdoors. Nice that they have indoor rifle to about 85 yards. A bit cramped, IIRC 8 lanes, but nice when the weather sucks. They only allow brass cased ammo. Veteran friendly.

There is a Range USA about 10 minutes away from me so I use them now and again for handguns. They don't care what case your ammo has.

Alpine is over priced arrogant jerks. They also don't allow FMJ rifle ammo, but are happy to mention that they sell ammo in their store.

My favorite place (yeah, I'm bragging). My shootin' buddy Jim in Chico grew up down around Hillsboro, and retired back there. We used to shoot NRA HIghpower matches together. He built a range on his property out to 1000 yards. You can see it on Google Earth. Back in 2020, we invited blogger Lone Star Parson to shoot with us for the day--

God, Guns, Church and Country Life in Texas and anything else I care to think of.

I moved from West Hollywood to Mansfield TX on Jan 6, 2020.
I agree, Alpine is overrated and expensive.
ETTS in Waxahachie is also quite expensive but they have a bunch of first come, first serve smaller ranges you can occupy with friends and not be bothered by other people shooting next to you. They don't charge extra for those "private" ranges.
There is another range called Griffith Switch in Venus, that one is more like a free for all, watch your back brother, shooting dumpster. People go there with machine guns, exploding targets and all sorts of other stuff. It's open 24/7/365. No RSOs here, no check-in, but it's cheap, $15 for all day. It works on the honor system, when you get there you send a Zelle payment to the owner at the address posted on a sign. I avoid going there on weekends, too many idiots shooting there.
      BLACK RIFLES MATTER!

Waxahachie also has a great BBQ supply store called Meat Church. That would be a destination for me.
