    .22 can is stuck

One of you veteran silencer users must have run into this before. When I try to unscrew my silencer from the barrel, the base of the silencer just unscrews. No wrench flats or anything like that. .22 silencers are designed to come apart so you can get the baffles out. Is there a way to hold the base? If I use a vise or something like that it seems like I would bend it.

Ultrasonic soak fixed mine right up when I got a little lazy in the cleaning department

          No.

You still don't understand. The can/can parts won't come off the barrel.

Suppressor lock-up can happen to any suppressor. Learn why this typically occurs and ways to prevent it to ensure the reliable operation of your silencer.

I didn't explain it well. It's on there tight because of the torque I put on it (hand tight). It's not carbon locked or anything like that. I only put 15 rounds through it. The base was only finger tight on the can because my fingers were the only way to tighten it. I need a way to hold the base while I loosen the barrel from it. Even if I had an ultrasonic cleaner, I'm not about to throw the whole slide in there. It would screw up the sights and probably the finish, not to mention internal parts.

It's a stupid design but I couldn't see it before I bought it. Also, until I tested this can, I hadn't shot any .22 in this century. The gun is a Taurus, and I really like it. It's nice and light, far lighter than my Ruger. It has last round hold open, good sights, and when I can get unlazy for an hour, I'll put a red dot on it.

Sounds like you need a strap wrench.

Could you borrow your wife's hair dryer and heat up the base? The base has a larger diameter than your barrel and will expand slightly more but that may be all it takes. Make sure to wear gloves to protect your hands from burns when you try to unscrew it.
