Hey all, left Ca. March 2020 for obvious reasons. I have a job offer to come back that is very lucrative but dont want to get sideways with the laws. I left for that reason specifically. To keep it simple I left Ca. with 3 AR's, two AK's, a SCAR 17 Benelli M4 and some pistols. Can I bring my semi auto rifles back? If not I will stay in AZ and just work out there going back and forth for the next 3 years. Its always been the ambiguity that I cant get my mind around in Ca.. Any comments appreciated.

If those rifles were CA compliant when you left, I don't see why you cannot make them compliant again and take them back to CA. They are essentially still registered.Originally posted by FalconLairI weep for my country and what it is becoming.Comment

I never deregistered my "Assault Rifles" from the 80s when I left CA. Registered under Roberti Roos.
I'm sure they're still registered there.Comment

I did not deregister my RBBAWs either. I just removed their BBs and installed the standard mag release parts that came with the lower parts kits I used to build them.Comment

Thats funny, I never registered an AW in CA, never had a bullet button, never had a fixed mag.
I don't know how you guys did it that registered them.

There might be some confusion here because two registrations happened in the past 10 years. The AWB registration that went on when bullet buttons were banned and the rifle registration that began in 2014 for ALL rifles regardless of type. The bullet button registration was the one where some people came forward and registered their bullet button rifles. The 2014 registration was automatic for all rifles purchased after 1/1/2014.
If you purchased them before 2014, they were never registered. Only handguns were registered until that point. For the three AR's, two AK's and SCAR, bring them in featureless or the new bullet button style. The Benelli M4, you should be able to bring it in aslong as it doesn't have the collapsible buttstock. The pistols were already registered if you bought them in California to begin with?Last edited by FNH5-7; 06-28-2024, 4:25 PM.Originally posted by FalconLairI weep for my country and what it is becoming.Comment
