Scheels in Meridian ID, opening this weekend

Always looking for vintage Winchester and Marlin lever action rifles. Looking to sell? Know of one for sale? Drop me a line!

I'll visit once the hype dies down.

Wife and I are going to drive by Sunday and see how crowded it looks. Can't wait to check it out; it's one of their largest stores.

Drove by on the way home from Black's Creek Saturday. The 84 off-ramps were jammed up, as was 10 Mile until after you passed Scheels. People and cars everywhere.

Funny thing was, there was a new Der Wienerschnitzel that opened up this weekend as well, in Meridian. That was jammed packed, too. Seriously - WTF? Is there that big a demand for fast food crappy hot dogs?

Went by Sunday afternoon. Parking lot was busy but spaces were readily available farther from the entrance. Lots of people but a fun experience, everyone was in a great mood. Incredible salt water aquarium display.
I think this is the second largest Scheels, after Texas. Amazing store - most impressive outdoor/shooting store that I've ever been in. I liked that most of the rifles are out in racks for people to handle-including pre-owned. The more expensive shotguns and rifles are in display cases. My first impression - great selection of products and brands (including primers), no real killer discounts but prices not high either. Picked up a Vortex Strike Eagle for PRS rimfire. Paid $799 for the Strike Eagle 5-25. About the same as online from what I could see. Hopefully there's enough demand to keep Cabelas, two Sportsman's Warehouses, and Scheels in business without harming the smaller gun stores we have in the valley.

I am hoping to check it out this coming weekend.
Idaho Gun & Outdoors in Nampa has a lot of rifles on racks on the floor too.

Blows my mind. I moved to Idaho for easy outdoor access and guns. I'd much rather spend my free time tooling around in the Owyhees or somewhere in the Sawtooths on my bike. But I've been meeting a lot of folks who consider fun as visiting the shopping mall in Meridian, going to Topgolf, or trying to get a cheeseburger at In-N-Out. Hope it ain't a sign.

Actually went Saturday afternoon for their opening. Went with wife, son, DIL and two very young grandkids. It was a very nice experience considering how crowded it was. For the most part we just walked the center aisles and watched the scuba divers in the aquariums. Big fun for the three year old.

It seems quite a bit larger than the Sparks store.

The one here is big. Looks like that one. On the top of the ferris wheel you can see the roof. It?s $1. Haven?t bought much. Ammo, softball equipment for my daughter, and heated gloves for me. The restaurant is ok. Bought kids pizza and coffee for me.

Better to wait until the hype dies down.

Stopped in this evening and parking lot was maybe half full. Pretty interesting place. It's just about everything you can imagine. Plus, they have primers, lots and lots of primers. They limit to you to one brick and they're kind of expensive, but they have them.

I finally bought CCI BR2 rifle primers after a 3 year search. My father in law bought a box too. I can finally reload .45-90 for my Shiloh Sharps rifle.
