N Utah. Turn Off Sprinklers Now

State says let it go dormant.
    Mother Nature will provide.
    Add Fall fertilizer.

    Good for now. But.

Thinking they’ll ban lawns in the very near future.
Excessive infrastructure diversion of water sources.

Can’t only rely on great snow years.

I believe they’re really addressing the metropolitan areas, Utah, Salt Lake, Davis Counties and further north. The major water demand valley areas

Up here in SW Idaho (Treasure Valley) the irrigation companies shut down the irrigation canals by mid-October in good water years. Drought years sometimes in September.

No complaints with mid-October from me, we pay something like $30/year for our irrigation water. I have more of a problem when it takes our subdivision too long to pressurize our system after the canals are opened in the spring.

It is hardly too strong to say that the Constitution was made to guard the people against the dangers of good intentions. There are men in all ages who mean to govern well, but they mean to govern. They promise to be good masters, but they mean to be masters." -Daniel Webster

Here in Canyon County, they are starting the water shutdown tomorrow the 4th. We had some rain yesterday and this morning, so I think I am done watering for this year. The lawn needs at least one more trim though.

One more trim here too. Will also lay down the overwintering fertilizer for the Spring thaw

Yeah. I think our canals go dry Oct 10. Our HOA owns the pump, so they shut down when Settlers turns off the water. Its been too wet anyways... and its getting cold.

We're loosing our water October 9 (Black Canyon). That's plenty late enough. "Cold" is a relative term

My peppers are slowing down (Bhut Jolokias). We just killed the pool heater and getting ready to close it. Its set to 87F and usually stays ~91F, but its been struggling. The last weekend rain sucked the heat out. So yeah, its too "cold" for the summer stuff. The lawn doesnt care about water at this point.

My wife has ripped out two 4'x16' grow beds last week so I could rebuild them. If the snow holds off for a couple more weeks I might get the other two replaced. I shut our sprinklers off before this last week's rains.

Snow?s dropping to 6,000 feet next week. We?re at 5,000? on the west bench of Salt Lake Valley. I suspect snowblower worthy snow is at least four or five weeks away.
I do believe we?ll have another big snow season.

Northwest Idaho will likely get nominal, if any, snow and ice.

I'm all for this. It's the end of utv/dirt bike/motorcycle season but that's OK. Seasons make the heart grow fonder.

Agreed. Motorcycle season is drawing to a close but that means hunting season is next. Love the seasons!
