For our members in warm climates

Our temperatures at our altitude is normally pretty much the same as where we moved from and we had at our old house your basic outdoor misters that were used when it got warm.

We now have over 100 feet of a covered patio and it's a great area to sit out in and entertain as well. We decided to look into a regular commercial misting system like you'll see at restaurants and other outdoor businesses.

A local company that is very popular called Hotsy is going to do the installation and the electrical, plumbing required. It will provide a 25 degree temperature reduction in the area we are doing.

Just curious if any of our other members have gone this route and how it turned out for you.

You tend to get more heat than we do in Oro Valley. I could see doing that there for sure. Based on the area you want done it can add up quick money wise, but thats a system that actually cools off the area and not just gets things wet like you basic DIY misters. Our system being installed will have a 1000 or 1500 psi pump, stainless steel lines and hardware and I believe they will have nozzles about every two feet.

It makes a curtain of vapor between you and the outside that really will cut down any heat.

Never cared for misters. Even the commercial ones are bad.

I use a portable swamp cooler. About $400. Just roll it where you want. You never get that humid sensation like misters create.

100ft of coverage is going to turn into a swamp with all that hot air trapped next to the misters. Better have a lot of fans.

If you're in the middle of Phoenix, the humidity in the summer is almost unbearable. For me, at least. Between all the lawns, golf courses, and fountains, there is a lot of water in the air there.

I live in Henderson NV, 107 today. A couple of years ago I bought a battery operated mister fan that feeds from a 5 gal bucket or water hose. I wear glasses so I figured out, I don't like mist on my face or glasses. I don't want to breathe in the water and I cannot stand humidity. I would rather take a dip in the pool to cool off or go in the house. I myself would not spend any more money on that contraption. Other people obviously love them, more power to them.

You wouldn't make it here in the South. There have been a series of thunderstorms move through here over the last couple of days where it will rain for a hour or so, wait a couple of hours and then rain some more. While it is currently only 69 degrees at 4AM, it has raised the humidity currently to 99%. That will drop quite a bit once the sun comes out, but it does take a bit of getting used to.

As a former Reno resident, I miss the low humidity sometimes, but I wouldn't trade my current location in Tennessee to be back in Nevada for anything.

We had a covered porch next to our pool with misters when I lived in Phoenix. It dropped the temp by about 20?. We also had two ceiling fans to circulate the air. Ours was a basic system that was plumbed into the exterior hose bib supply pipe with a copper to PVC/threaded pipe Tee. No electrical solenoids or auto temp controls. This was back in the mid 90's when it wasn't as built up in the city as it is now.

It's 102 with 8% humidity now. No idea what you are talking about. Before monsoon season it is very dry and very hot. Swamp coolers add humidity without the moisture of misters raining on you.
Golf courses hardly add any humidity. You can feel the difference as you walk away from them. The humidity is gone within 100ft.

By third week of July it gets humid and less hot. From then until October is the really rough months. Swamp coolers and misters are turned off. Swimming pools are too warm to enjoy.
After being dried out all winter the humidity is nice. Don't have to drink as much water. Camping in the monsoon storms is fun on my land. It also helped a lot with living in Thailand. Tourists were suffering and I'm outside enjoying the cool 85f rainy weather. Had the same situation in Colombia. My ex was so hot in Cartagena but I was loving the humidity.

Not a big deal for me. I have a nice hidden spot 2 hours north. I was there yesterday from 10am until 6pm. I put an inflatable bed on a creek and tie it to a tree. Just relax all day in the water. It's so clear I just lie on my stomach and watch the catfish hunt for food. My girlfriend was turning over rocks and catching g crayfish.

My next purchase will be high pressure mister system. It can be a lil type humid and they will keep you cool and dry. I currently have the basic set up on outskirts of patio they help a little but wind seems to blow them opposite way. There’s a reason one system cost 1500 or more and other 25 bucks lol. I’ve been in a place by my old house in so cal 98 degree day 40 percent humidity and covered patio with high pressure system didn’t get wet at all and they worked. So basically don’t bother with anything under a high pressure system

Also have a porta cool 500 sf version I use in patio and like said it works great even ok on humid days.

I would think the pool would be too warm?
                        Is it a large pool?

No worries here in Northern Nevada, temperatures will plunge below 75 in mid September. Great time for outside range time. I don't miss Bay Area weather at all.
