    Visiting Reno Sparks

We will be staying in Reno for couple weeks, any outdoor range or BLM land in the area? Willing to drive down to Carson City too. Thanks!

You have to be careful not to miss the turnoff.

Make sure the Washoe range is open before driving out there. There is some (possibly only perceived) instability in the range management at this time.

I?d just head for the Douglas County Shooting Range in Gardnerville if you?re willing to drive to Carson.
Chances are you?ll have the range to yourself with no RSO?s and have your own target stands.
Douglas County Sheriffs Office Qual?s there twice a week until noon so check into that before heading out there.
That was my go to range when living in Stateline Tahoe. $2 a car load on the honor system.

Carson is good to go. ROs are friendly.
Reno Gun and Range is great.

Reno indoor gun range is nice.

Carson City gun range is really clean and well kept, because we pick up after ourselfs. Also if you gou past the main bench are, there are 50 yard stalls you can have to yourself and basicly do whatever you want.

Gardnerville has a lot of the, no blue sky, cover. Its also really clean because we keep it clean. Its unsupervised and mostly the older guys go there or the full auto guys. Not to many inexperianced shooters go to Gardnerville.

Theres lots of blm land outside of the city limits, but pay attention to when entering if there is a sign. Theres limitations for target shooting in some areas due to the warmer weather. Call and check with the local blm office just so see if theres any places they recommend, if you want to, not saying you should. The Carson City office was cool and suggested a spot I could shoot out to 400yards. One of the guys will stop by my house and ask if Ive been out, great group of people.

Hope you find a spot and enjoy your visit.

Closed! Conflicting stories. Some say it was sold. Others said, closed due to lack of staff.

Thanks for the heads up! Didn't they just put out a request for proposal for new management/operator?

It was nice when it was open. Paper targets went out to 200 yards and the steel plates went out to 900. Lots of people shooting suppressed rifles. My oldest son learned to shoot his first rifle there.
