    North ID whiskey search

Just a heads up since the old thread is to old to reply to.
Sherman Ave CdA store has Blanton's and a few other hard to find brands right now. Stopped on a whim after running some errands downtown and got lucky. Life's little wins.....

    Nice.

I think when I sell my first house I'll have a drink. For the time being I'm enjoying being dry but I think when I hit that goal I'll allow myself one.

Hayden LS received a case of Blanton?s on Wednesday. They open at 10am and gone by 10:05.

I?m down to 1 bottle so I?m on the hunt.

      You scored OP.

Try Saturday morning. I got a hot tip from the clerk at Hayden.

          It?s very strange.

I?ve gone in there on a Sunday and there were 3 bottles left from the Wednesday stock. Wife and I bought 2, then I hid one behind some scotch on that table for my buddy to buy within 10 minutes.

I?m on the hunt every Wednesday and Saturday

I?m making due by making old fashions using Woodridge Reserve Double. Been trying to prefect the recipe for awhile now. I just need to order the baseball sized molds for ice.

I enjoy checking liquor stores in small out of the way towns.

These came from stores in CO on my way to El Paso.
Picked up 2 bottles of Blanton's in a little store on my way to Cody, WY.

A lot of people talk about how difficult it is to find Eagle Rare. I was visiting my sister in the San Fernando Valley a couple years ago and rode along with her to the local Ralph's to pick up some groceries. Noticed they had Eagle Rare and some other brands on clearance. I think I picked up 5 bottles of Eagle Rare at more than half-off plus various other bottles of bourbon, scotch, and wine. That was a shocker.

I noticed with a bottle I picked up a few weeks ago that they've put the age statement on the front of the bottle again.

Had the same experience at the Santee Albertsons a while back.

Yeah, I get reminiscing about the grocery store liquor selections and sales, but then realize sometimes moves come with certain consequences. I would take a dry state where i'm at rather than be where I was a little over three years ago now.

Even getting Buffalo Trace is frustrating.

It?s a controlled substance these days.

I know Hayden liquor store has over a hundred bottles (liters) in the back but are trying to reserve them for the local pubs/restaurants so they don?t put them out on the shelves.
I just ask them to get me one from the back and they do.

Buffalo Trace and Woodford make the best Old Fashions IMO. I?ve tried them all believe me.

I know restaurants/ bars get first dibs on product, and it seems like the cases go out in bigger quantities when I see pick ups going out the side door on the occasion I'm there when it is happening. Folks need to run their business, but shouldn't get all the product available.

I agree the businesses shouldn?t get first priority but that seems to be the case. By not stocking the shelves with certain products confirms that.

So now I don?t pay attention to what?s on the shelves I peek through and see what?s available to the pubs.

That?s how I scored a handle (1.75) of BT yesterday.

I am a member of WORT (Warriors of the Rotating Tap), the homebrew club in Post Falls, and another member told me that the Hayden LS holds high end products (does not put them on the shelf) for "special" customers. So you high end whiskey/Bourbon drinkers need to be on their list. I'm Ok with the cheap Canadian stuff.
