    Our Tucson area members

Curious if anyone has gone shooting at the Red Rock area close to Tucson. It seems like it may be an easy to access BLM area but I am always curious of the potential low life quotient when going on public land.

That’s up above Marana I think, too far from me. But close enough for you to jump on your bike and check it out. I always do a recon of a new shooting area before I bother to load up and shoot there. I think it would be worth your time to check it out, might be a great spot close to home.

Dirt bag shooters are always late risers, get there early and at most you’ll only have to deal with other enthusiasts. If you do decide to shoot there, bring extra trash bags.

The only alternative to public land is private land, a very expensive solution that will probably be overrun by lowlife anyway. Even fences and gates won't keep them out.

Tucson proper I.E. downtown I'm not crazy about. Oro Valley although has been amazing and like a whole other world. You can even find some really decent property in Marana.

We saw a new listing for a 5 acre lot with a relatively newer house listed recently for 550K.

I think I'll do that before I head out loaded down.

Looking forward to your update after you check it out.

Took my kids to Sky Harbor this morning and drove past the freeway off ramp to Red Rock. Not all that far for you, might work out well.

Went out today and had a great time shot up around 600.00 of ammo but all my new weapons are dialed in and shooting great. The road going out to the area we went isn't recommended for any vehicle but my SIL SUV made it fine.

One exception found out my new Kimber Hero 45ACP doesn't like steel case ammo but no surprise there. Our two new ARs were amazing as was my new Zastava with the optical from PSA what a great sight.

My EDC shot great as usual and we had a steel target we used for the pistols and paper for everything else. The Tavor TS-12 was a blast to shoot but even with the muzzle brake was a beast for everyone.

It is a very remote area so if you go be prepared for that.

The areas are mainly look for a good backstop, park and shoot. The areas were spotless which was a surprise. Not even a stray empty anywhere and we left it as we found it.

We didn't see anyone until we started driving back and got into civilization. All in all a great day and everyone came back with the appendages we started with.

Doesn't sound like a place I'd want to go alone though.

Agree, it is definitely an area where situational awareness is a must. It was myself my wife and my Sister in law the retired Marine so we were good. It would be an area where someone could sneak up pretty easy.

Why? Bandidos or too remote if you get hurt?
