Calling HK and clone owners

I have to post this here, and not in the General Population forums, or the kalis get mad.

You guys that have HK roller delayed (I hate saying MP5 unless it's a real MP5) pistols, I imagine most have a brace. What are the trials and tribulations of having an HK/clone with a brace?

I guess you need something to replace the end cap?

Then you need a doohickey to mount the brace on?

How much of a pain is it?

I'm liking the idea of just typing in a cc number, and a week later have something I can mount my cans on, and go. I seem to have plenty of 9mm stuff, but it either needs wrenching on, the barrels are too long (16"), it's open bolt, or something that makes it less than satisfying.

I shoot my AP5 with a sling. No brace. I will either AOW it or SBR it.

Pull the pins on the cap and attach it. No drama.

I shoot my AP5 with a sling. No brace. I will either AOW it or SBR it.

I find my SP5 is actually easier to shoot just with sling tension. I've shot post samples with an A2 and A3 stock and it just seemed awkward. This is even more pronounced when you have an optic mounted.

A brace is easy-peasy to install. The biggest drawback is the amount of ammo you go through and the cost of magazines. So far I have found that Gun Mag Warehouse has the best price on mags @$44.95 each. They are made by MKE, the same folks that made my MP5 clone. They are an exact duplicate of a genuine HK mag at 2/3 the price. I currently have a dozen magazines, equally divided between POF and MKE, they all look exactly the same and all function perfectly.

I currently have the SB Tactical brace and I have no issues with it. I am on the fence regarding the brace amnesty, but if I decide to remove the brace and just go with a sling I would be okay with that.

Why is the stock awkward with optics? The optic sits too high?

That brace might be fine if the lop is short enough.

Yes, you need a doohickey to mount your brace if your clone does not come with a brace. Very easy to replace, push the pins out, remove the trigger housing and the end plate comes off.

All of my clones are stamped, but the regular reverse stretch is still pretending to be a pistol as I am too cheap to spend $650-900 for a real HK A3 F-type stock. Waiting for POF A3 stocks to come back. The regular sized clone is using a B&T folding stock. The SD is getting an ACR stock, the black ones are OOS everywhere so I settled for an FDE stock. Some Rit Dye action and it will soon sport a blackface.

Maybe I should have waited for the free stamp, but I heard about it too late. I assumed Biden's ATF will not give us any break

If I bought a clone I'd rather keep it braced. If I did buy one, and did sbr it, I'd probably want to go whole hog and get an A3 stock.

I have an AC Unity. Makes the firearm much more functional.

Friend of mine had an MP5SD-A3, I remember it being a comfortable stock. I like how the "profile" doesn't get any bigger when it's collapsed, unlike a folder.

Interesting wrinkle, I found out there's a binary trigger, at least one (Franklin Armory) for HK's. Any word on if they work in the clones?

Without saying if you may or may not have one, anyone have any experience with them?
