    Form 1 pics

I'm sure most of you have seen the news and why some of us might be filing a lot of Form 1's soon. You have to provide pics?

    What kind of pics?

    Printed on paper?

Can I just use my laser printer to print a black and white pic?

Use the eForm1. All electronic except fingerprint cards have to be mailed after accepted. My last was 28 days.

This. The verbiage that the ATF has seems to state that they want proof that you are deserving of the amnesty and the free tax stamp. Therefore if your pistol does not have a brace currently, you will not qualify.

So in the next few months, I will have to make sure that each one of my pistols to be SBRed has a brace.

On the other hand, it is also possible that the ATF will just turn around and use your picture as self-incriminating evidence that you have an illegal SBR. Just how many times have they changed their opinion?

When I did my E-Form 1 I didn't have to provide any pictures of a gun. I did have to upload a picture of myself. I just used my passport picture for that. I will be filling another E-Form 1 as soon as my fingerprint cards show up in the mail.

All you need is one brace. It doesn't have to be cinched down, just good enough for a pic.

If they don't requires a serial on the lower pic, all you need is one lower.

When I did my SBR last year they asked specifically for pics of any markings, including serial numbers on the "Frame / Receiver".

The current E-file form 1 always requires photos of the receiver markings.

My last two approvals from April did not have pictures other than my own passport pic. I have two more submitted from last week. So far no requests of pictures from the ATF. Last time they asked me for pictures was when I applied for a gun that previously was not produced in the caliber (Galil ACE in 5.45x39) and they contacted me within a week.

Uploading pics is cheap insurance, but unless you are submitting a brand new model or caliber, or a home made firearm or a very unusual gun, so far when we are still paying the $200 tax, pictures are not required.

With that said, it seems that the planned Amnesty program for braced pistols would require you to prove that what you are applying for is indeed a braced pistol, not some rifle or unbraced pistol you are seeking to have a free SBR stamp for.

Since the buffer tubes and braces are not serialized, you theoretically can take pictures of all of your lowers while attached to one buffer tube and one brace, moving them around.

The problem becomes if you have more than just AR lowers. You have to have buffer tube adapters for your AKs, Scorpions, Stribogs, etc. By that point you're better off getting the specific brace adapters and that will diminish your $200 savings.

Guys on arf.com seem to also agree with me:

I'll update the forum hopefully in a week or so. On 8/29 I submitted two eForm 1's for an MP5K and an AK. Neither have braces either.
