    Ky or Tn for retirement

Well after several years of planning to retire in AZ the other half has announced that she wants to move to KY or TN to be closer to family. So since I am married we are changing plans to move east. The question remains as to exactly where. So suggestions are welcome.

Remember the heavy duty killer tornado that took down many lives in Kentucky a few months back ? Go for EASTERN Tennessee instead. Check out the weather maps that show the likely paths of recent storms going southwest across Memphis by northeast just above Nashville on thru Kentucky. Just my sincere nickels worth. I am in Eastern Tennessee region, Kodak next to Sevierville southeast of Knoxville.

I love KY but TN is good for retirees. Cant go wrong with TN. Good advice about storm patterns so the east is probably better.

Kentucky is full. Run off with hot 22 yo blonde.

And tornadoes are no joke. I was in the path of the big one in early December and it’s such a helpless feeling.

I'm for TN, especially the eastern part.
I've got family in the Alcoa, Maryville, Knoxville area and it's always a good time when visiting.
Great fishing, camping and other outdoor activities.
But, it gets hot and humid in the summer and there's a reason back porches are screened.

I lived in both for 7 years & would recommend TN over KY.

I'd choose a brunette. Just as hot, likely to have a less mercurial temperament.

Have you looked at the financials?

                  Property Tax
                  Sales Tax
                  Utility Rates
                  Income tax...

Friends in Dallas just got a 49% increase in their homes value... no prop 13 but the max jump in tax is 10% per year with a 3 year appraisal cycle

So his Property value for tax goes up 10% per year for 3 years... then is appraised again at the 3 year mark...

First, thanks for including BACON in your poll. My vote, always.

Look into tornado projection maps. Someone I know that moved to the deep south claimed to have consulted a map to choose an area that was 'in between' hurricanes and tornadoes. Might be my a load of my initials but ask around.
