Firearm transfers are $30 + the $25 background check. (As mentioned above, once you get your CCW, you won't need to do the background check anymore.)

They're a small shop, tho. They don't have the variety that the bigger places do.

If you're looking for shops where you can spend an hour looking around, you have Cabela's and Scheels. Mark Fore and Strike is a good place to waste some time, too. And Willey Brothers Firearms is really cool.
No cash and carry parking lot PPTs in Nevada anymore?

Nope. Since the start of 2020, private sales (with some exceptions) require an FFL to handle the transaction and perform a background check.

Congratulations on the move! How is the housing cost compared to CA so far?

Rents are 50 to 60% of California. Home prices are increasing. I see large construction activity all over Washoe county.

              Hey Reno-Kid,

Just a heads up regarding CA DMV. Hint, they're idiots.

When I finished my move back in December 2021, I changed my CA Real ID DL to NV Real ID DL and registered my car and motorcycles. Next I filled out CA DMV online Form 14 (one for myself and one per vehicle) per the CA DMV instructions about moving out of state. Simple they said... nope. They "forgot" to mention that there's a bunch of other steps to do.

I started receiving letters about my CA vehicle insurance was no longer valid and I need to submit proof of new insurance. I called the number listed (800)777-0133 and told them I'm no longer a CA resident and filled out the online Form 14 for myself and each vehicle. Rep said that's just for mailing purposes. She also said I need to fill out a Form DL142 to cancel my CA DL and a Form REG256 for each vehicle. She also said to attach the NV registration for each vehicle with the REG256.

Mailing address is different for each form.

              For DL142, mail to:

              DMV
              PO Box 942890
              Sacramento, CA. 94290

For REG256 with new NV registration, mail to:

              DMV
              PO Box 942869
              Sacramento, CA. 94269

Yet despite mailing all of those forms, I was still getting letters from CA DMV.

I called again and was told they didn't receive my forms. Thankfully the rep I was talking to gave me an email address to handle the vehicle registrations and a different phone number for handling the CA Real ID DL.

              For registration, email to:

              dmvcpdfcc@dmv.ca.gov

Subject line: Vehicle registered out of state

              Attachments: New NV registrations

Main body: Inform them when the vehicles were moved out of CA and reference the CA plate numbers to VINs.

For CA Real ID DL, call

              (916)657-8849

Tell them that you changed residency to NV and received your new NV Real ID DL. Provide them the NV DL number and if necessary, ask for a supervisor.

I had to do follow up calls to both numbers about the status of my CADL and registrations. After 3 months, it appears they were finally cancelled.

Well California Bureaucrats want all the money and will play games to get it.

I live in Reno for a few years. Seemed like never ending road work, they dont plow any of the roads in the winter, and traffic is insane. Really nice in the summer and awesome sushi though.

I like Carson City, what a great town. Peaceful and clean. It's a comfortable drive down from Reno.

So far in 60 days, I added HK VP9, Walther's PPQ, Beretta 81 (32acp), PSA AR pistol, and a Canik Mete SFT to my collection. Plus waiting on the CCW. Looking to take up fly fishing soon.
