Finally shot the guns.. in Idaho

    Moved to Idaho.

Finally got a chance to shoot

    Took the Henry X .357, Ruger 10/22.

    Pickle Butte range.

    Free. Unregulated. No range officer.
Felt like freedom. Lots of dead pumpkins

Shooting the Henry X was so darn fun. It ate all the FMJ ammo I had. Didn't like the lead nose .357. Definitely a bigger kick with the
    357 ammmo Still totally managable.
Going to contact Henry Customer service about that.

The 10/22 ate all the ammo. Subsonic, velicitors, thunderbolts.

Can't wait to get back out there.

Ammo is available and frequently no limits. Pricing still has a way to go, but they have come down. YMMV.

Based upon my occasional visits to Independence Indoor Shooting in Meridian.

After finally going through my inventory built up before leaving CA, I decided not to entertain the idea of purchasing additional ammo until I add a new caliber or the prices return to the buy it cheap, stack it deep days.

Walmart in Eagle had some Federal . 22LR under . 07 cents a round. What Big 5 was charging last year.
Also had 1 Winchester Super X super speed 50 count box for 4.99 or .09 cents a round.

saw some 9 mm for good prices at Cabelas the other day. 22 lr is also available and has been for some time. Primers have now become the hot commodity. I've had thousands of them for years and I'm alarmed at some of the prices asked on zidaho and elsewhere - $200 and over for a brick.

The range at Pickle Butte is actually titled the George Nourse range, after a former sheriff. It's a great resource that's been patrolled to some degree by the canyon county sheriff. We've had some problems there years back with people running up and aggressively grabbing spent brass casings; sheriff patrol helped to reduce that issue.

I have been to that range three times now since we moved here last December, and I really like it during the middle of the week. Only a few other folks there in the mornings I have gone.

                      Great place to shoot

Shoot there quite often since moving here. Wish people would pack out garbage. I ship ammo right to my doorstep. 9mm is .17/round and round .223 is .37/round. I have so much .22 from the last fiasco, I don't look at that pricepoint.
Like others have said, welcome to Idaho.

Is that new or reloads? Black Sheep in CDA has 115 gr 9mm Federal and Remington for $21 for a box of 50.

Nice, OP! I haven't checked out pickle Butte yet. I've been enjoying shooting on public lands here.

If anyone needs 308 ammo here in the treasure valley, I'm selling 2000 rounds at $0.90/Rd. All bnib factory. PMC and PPU.
