Proclamation for all Cali expats in Idaho

After perusing the threads on this lively forum, I'm compelled to offer the following suggestion for validation of your freedom card as new citizens of Idaho:

Within a period of time not to exceed six (6) months after becoming eligible to purchase firearms in the state of Idaho, you must proceed to a Walmart parking lot and purchase at least one (1) of the following:

AK 47 OR AK 74 or variant of either with at least one (1) feature forbidden in California

AR 15 OR AR 10 or variant of either with at least one (1) feature forbidden in California

    Any semi-automatic handgun with a standard-capacity magazine

A quantity of centerfire ammunition that evokes an expletive from at least one knowledgeable observer not involved in the transaction.

I thought all Walmarts quit selling AR's and AK's.

I’ll let my buddy know. Don’t think he owns any of those. And he moved to Hayden Lake in ‘89 or so…

I don’t enjoy the AK platform.

I moved here with plenty of AR that are now in noncommie configuration.

I did buy a few pistols with standard capacity mags and the CMMG .22 kit with 3 mags of 25 each.

I reload and used many 1000’s of components for friends before I left. (They are heavy to move).

I don’t meet at Walmart here. I meet at a 2A company like North 40.

Walmart may have stopped selling them, but the guy in parking lot may still be in the business.

The OP here was talking about the "guy in the parking lot, not the Walmart.

In other words, he's showing off his new-found freedoms.

If the first thing you buy in a free state doesn't cost a tax stamp ,just stop and go back to California.

Nothing that requires a Form 4? That's setting the bar pretty low.

Does it count that I brought in half a dozen AR's, same with FAL's and a dozen handguns when I got here in 2002. It might also count that I sold a post-ban Bushmaster in front of the gym at Cole and Fairview on Christmas in broad daylight?

Moved back to CA from TX and 2 years later to ID. I may have forgotten CA registration requirements while I was there...just can remember now as it was a long time ago. Almost a ton of ammo accompanied the weapons, me, and a large Chow. A beautiful day's drive...

You got it, Rick! However, I've been in Idaho for about 50 years now (longer than walmart parking lots have lol) so I tend to take 2A freedoms as the norm. Wish it was so for other states.

I think the bolded transaction meets the spirit of the walmart parking lot requirement. Besides, you're a great guy.

Does it have to be a Walmart? So far I've transacted in private party garages, Raley's parking lot, The Star Merc parking lot, various gun shows, and outside the Mongolian BBQ place in Nampa.

But, I'll set something up for Walmart if that is the requirement...... I'd hate to get run out of state.

Can I get my freedom validation card if I removed the BBs on the 9 ARs I arrived with? I did not do it within 6 months, because they had not yet been released, but how about my purchase of a Walther PDP with 18rnd mags the week they were released?
