    New behavior, new environment

I've noticed since moving to Idaho Falls from Calif. I:
Don't worry about where I park or locking the doors
Don't watch where I step for crap or needles
I don't scan the parking lot or parks for creeps
I don't feel odd saying hi to strangers
Hearing sirens is uncommon along with gunshots
Normal travel through a clean and trash free and graffiti free enviroment
Only hear English spoken, no signs or billboards in Spanish.
    See US flags flying everywhere
See children playing and walking to school without intense supervision.

Nice. I'll be rolling through IF on Sunday, I'll see if I can change it up for ya!

I use my turn signals to indicate turns and lane changes.
I open doors for strangers or at least hold it open after I walk through.
I let the other guy go first at the stop sign.
I nod to strangers when catching their eyes.
I’m getting the hang of traffic circles (it’s always the Californians that cut you off when you have the right-of-way)

I am not too sure on this one. I know CA drivers are rude, but jeez, I have seen some wild, crazy, and down right dangerous driving, u turns in the middle of the highways, u turns from the far RIGHT lane on a double hwy, the flashing yellow is like a challenge to some folks, crazy stuff.

In talking with the Born and Bred folks here, they admit some of their brethren cant drive, so I am not sure its all CA folks.

It's DEFINITELY the drivers with 1J license plates here.

Most of the same here except the looking down where you're walking since there are so many critters out here that will ruin your day.

Pretty much the same here in unincorporated Star, except for gunshots. Being adjacent to BLM land, I hear the distant sound of freedom just about every day.

I notice that the left turn in front of you, or the pull out in front of you is like the state hobby up here. My wife swears it's the Californians doing it, but usually it's an obvious local based on their vehicle condition/type, or a car with WA plates.

I noticed that straight off when I moved here. Pissed me off at first, but now I just expect it.

The other weird thing is not daring to enter the intersection for a left turn on a flashing yellow. Half the time, they just sit there behind the line and let the light change to red without making their turn. It's a bit frustrating being behind those folks, I must admit.

No disagreement, especially if you have a flashing yellow and oncoming traffic has a green. All bets are off for oncoming ag equipment which always have right of way.

One Sunday morning, I came to a 4-way stop about a mile from home. I was on a large tractor pulling a hay baler.

To my left was the middle of a Porsche parade with about 20 cars lined up.

I stopped, let a Porsche go by, and started to enter the intersection.

The next Porsche proceeded while blowing his horn. He got about halfway across the intersection as I approached him with the loader bucket about even with his windshield.

Girly horns began blowing, one finger salutes were exchanged, I dropped into crawl mode and proceeded across the intersection at about 1 mph.

A great way to start my morning.
