    Southern Oregon, the Jefferson state

Well we FINALLY made our escape from So Cal. We just moved into our new home just outside of Grant's Pass, Oregon. Had been thinking about the idaho panhandle, but the winters may be too much at my age (70s).
Oregon to the north is liberal but Southern Oregon is very conservative.
Any other So Cal expatriates in this area???

Have not been to Ashland yet, I see.

But it does seem to be true. Up through Douglas County folks are generally more conservative. Cottage Grove is the first town on I5 in Lane county, and we're more conservative by about 7 votes out of around 4000. Lane County itself is liberal, 60/36 based on 2020 general election, but I suspect that's primarily Eugene. Whole state was 57/41 for Biden.

Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!

Congrats on finding your new home! Just wanted to point out that Lewiston in North Idaho has quite a temperate climate, if you can deal with the smell from the paper plant.

Welcome to Oregon. Lots of California expats around these parts. Folks tend to be quite patriotic and conservative around the southern and rural parts except maybe Ashland like Librarian mentioned. The first time you return to California for a visit is when you'll really notice the difference.

And you save on fuel also. About .70 per gallon on diesel.
