Doesn’t half the state flood every year? Or is that Kentucky? Or Missouri? Or Arkansas? Or Mississippi? Or Alabama? Or....

Are you retired or still working? Just like almost everywhere in the US, housing prices have exploded but the wages in Tennessee are very low. It could still be better than California, I don't know your exact circumstances.

I understand wanting to get out of here, im planning it too.

We are planning a move to the Clarksville area just north of Nashville. Wife is a civilian employee for the Army and will transfer over to Fort Campbell. Eventually we would like to move further east in the state but using the transfer as a stepping stone to get us out of CA and into TN. We visited in March, Tennessee is a beautiful state. Weather could be hit or miss. Lots of rain and humid summers. Trees and green everywhere. The best thing is that people are living like normal out there. No BS covid mandates. Housing is still reasonable compared to other places. No state income tax. The only thing that resembles CA in a way is the sales tax at 9.5%. Our first choice was Idaho but we all know about the influx of people over there and the rising costs. We feel Tennessee is a good compromise. We can't wait to get out of this sh**hole of a state! Good luck with your move and wherever you end up!

More or less retired, wife 75, me 78 in July. reasonably good health, selling our house and want to buy outright or big down on a house with 1-1 1/2 acres so I can shoot my new Henry lever 22 out of the back yard. I don't care for hot humid summers but they, her and the daughters following don't want strong cold windy winters as in Rocky Mtn states. Going to Minnesota first for the summer months and then most likely to the knoxville area. Deer and elk there also is a big plus. I would like to know that stats for concealed/open carry there also.

If you want to shoot on your property you will have to live in the county area not city. Big difference. I am in the county and have a 100 yard range on my property.

Look at medical facilities nearby as well. Something important to consider.

                Pros:
-Tennessee has no state income tax.
-It is a red state (although I’m sure the big cities are blue).
-Less restrictive infringements on 2nd amendment rights.
                -Cost of living is lower.

                Cons:
                -Wages are lower.
                -Probably more humidity.
-More rain (although this may be a feature and not a bug).
-I’m guessing more bugs (particularly mosquitos and biting flies).

Truth in advertising: I have never lived in Tennessee.

It depends on the wages. If you are skilled you can make the same as in Cali. Works out better because no state income tax.
Yes we get rain. The state is green not the desert.
                  Bugs are not bad.
                  July 1 constitutional carry starts.
You can have guns with a giggle switch and or suppressors.

I pay 7.5 cents per KW for electricity.

TN is full , weather is horrible, and we have tornados. Don't come here.

Lol, I moved here and haven't looked back. Plenty of Calgunners here. We will welcome you with some sweet tea, some Jack Daniels, and a firm handshake.

My uncle moved there after retiring from the military. I have visited with that side of the family twice. Lots of rain. Once I was driving and I could not see the road through the rain. I thought about pulling over but felt that would be no safer so just kept following the tail lights in front of me. Seemed like a nice place but hot & humid.
