Any Cal gunners familiar with Pahrump,NV. Wife wants to move to Riverside county closer to family. Bidding war on houses down there. Nice prices on homes in Pahrump.

I think Pahrump is only known for 2 things, being the closest place near Frontsight to get a hotel, and all the Brothels. I think MTV had a reality show about the chicken ranch brothel there.
I guess if someone isnt into guns, Pahrump is only known for one thing then...Emotional appeal is a marketing tactic and not a foundation for effective argument.

I had a discussion with a fellow from Pahrump as to whether the denizens are called Pahrumpalopes, or Brothelettes. Both are used, apparently.

I thought Pahrump was known only for being the home of Art Bell and his off-the-wall " Coast to Coast " late night radio show that's been off the air for a long time.
I'm sure there are brothels there but there are brothels in other places too, just ask BP.Comment

Different elevations and different climates...Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED
Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)
Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

"poof dirt" , dry lake bed, poof dirt tracks everywhere. Post tension slabs in many of the newer homes due to soil conditions. You can avoid both in certain parts of Town. Closer to the winery are better soils.
There are older "scary" neighborhoods but also nicer very nice newer neighborhoods.
If you like acreage and don't want to live where your neighbor is 10' away, a lot of very nice 1 acre parcel areas with very nice homes.
Major medical is an hour away in Vegas.
The only place I have seen Kerosene for sale at a pump in a gas station in my travels in the western US.
It's not our top pick; but in retirement, we save a lot of dollars if we land in a no income tax state, we stay close to kids and friends in SoCal, Arizona, etc.; So it's an option.
It's a dry heat
