SAR Show Phoenix 2020. Is it on?

Some sources say SAR/CROSSROADS Show is still on for December 4 to 6.
Other sources say it's very iffy at best. I know COVID cases are spiking again in
the metro Phoenix area but who knows what the county/state will do.

    Anybody hearing anything different?

Hard to say. I don't think there have been any shows in Tucson or Phoenix but there was one in Prescott.

Crossroads has canceled the Nov shows, although there is a 2A rally and show in Tempe at the end of Oct. Looks small though.

SAR is a Crossroads show. They will probably announce within a couple weeks what they're going to do because a lot of vendors have to commit to travel plans.

I agree they need to make a decision soon. There has not been a gun show in the Phoenix area since March!

Looks like the Tucson Crossroads show at the end of Nov is still on the calendar, so that's a good sign.

If it does go, I wonder how well attended it will be by vendors.

                Yup.......Here's the email from Crossroads:

                GREAT NEWS !

We have received conditional approval to hold the annual 3 Day Crossroads/Small Arms
Review show in Phoenix on December 4, 5 & 6 ! The show will have a much different
appearance than any show we have had in pre-Covid times.

It will be an all-outdoor show to incorporate Arizona State Health Department-mandated
social distancing. Dealers will be set up in their own ten-by-ten booths inside a securely
fenced perimeter. Our regular strong overnight security team, headed up by Pete
Schwartz, will be in place to ensure security during the hours the show is closed to the
                public.

Face masks or face coverings will be required by all show participants. If you object to face
masks or cannot wear one, we respectfully request that you don't plan to attend the show,
as it is a requirement of the conditional approval for the show and a strict condition for
continuing the show after opening that all vendors and all members of the public wear face
                masks at all times.

The show will be held in the parking lots north of the Agriculture Buildings and the Bolin
Youth Building. These are the parking lots where you and the other dealers usually park
                their vehicles.

The show will be held in booths under 10' X 10' canopies. Because of the conditional
approval for the show requiring separation between vendors (social distancing) we will
                ONLY have space available under the canopies in 10' X 10', 10' X 20', 10' X 30' and 10' X 40'
configurations. If you need a larger space under the canopies let us know, and we will
work to accommodate you. If you want fewer tables, we suggest that you team up with
friends to work together under a canopy, as there are no single or double tables available.

PLEASE NOTE: THERE WILL NOT BE ANY LARGE TENTS AVAILABLE AS THE STATE
DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH IS REQUIRING TEN FOOT DISTANCING BETWEEN INDIVIDUAL
                VENDOR SETUPS.

HERE ARE THE PRICES FOR THE CANOPIES:
                * 10' X 10': $370 * 10' X 20': $740 * 10' X 30': $1110 * 10' X 40': $1480 *
All booths MUST BE PREPAID...Because of the exceptional nature of the Health
Department-imposed requirements and the complexity in setting up this show we will not
set up or hold any space that is not prepaid.
*Electricity is available on a limited basis and ONLY IF PRE-ORDERED at $100 per
                connection.
                * Side curtains (4) are available to enclose your booth(s) at $100 per set of 4.
We strongly suggest that you consider ordering booth side curtains in the
event of adverse weather and for protection from the elements overnight.

It's going to be a great show, and we hope you'll plan to join us for what promises to be, as
always, the best show of the year.

                Best regards,
                The Crossroads Team

So Crossroads will lower the admission price to make up for it?

Well that part will be nice. Squeezing through the human car wash at the Cow Palace shows was not fun.

HERE ARE THE PRICES FOR THE CANOPIES:
                    * 10' X 10': $370 * 10' X 20': $740 * 10' X 30': $1110 * 10' X 40': $1480 *
Oof, no wonder vendors have dropped out. The usual price was 150 iirc.

                    * Side curtains (4) are available to enclose your booth(s) at $100 per set of 4.

If you're traveling from out of town, bring a poncho just in case. They've had some pretty heavy thunderstorms during the show before.

Forecast for the weekend looks good. I already have plans to be in the area for this weekend, but not for this show. Unfortunately, I can't make it. One of my kids plays travel baseball and is playing in a tournament this weekend.

Maybe you'll get lucky and your kid will get knocked out early.

Someone told me they are making people buy 3 tables minimum. That doesn't make sense because you can buy just a 10x10 canopy, and the standard table length is 8 feet iirc.

I was a lock for going, but I found out the tickets for entry are 20 bucks(!), so I'm not so sure now. Considering how high the table prices are, I'm pretty sure there won't be any bargains on the tables. The problem is there are no other good shows in the state. Tucson shows suck now because Crossroads has competition there. The two shows are held one week apart and have a vampire effect on each other. So each one by itself sucks.

That means I have one show a year worth going to, and I'm getting too old to keep saying "next year". So I'll probably just suck it up and bend over and pay the 20 bucks.

                              Hi Jim,

Definitely not getting a booth and not sure I will be attending at all. It's gonna be super crowded and stupid prices on everything. I am not optimistic.
