Welcome! I feel your pain, likely in the same places. Chico to DFW in 2015. Drove a 22 ft Ryder diesel towing a flatbed trailer with a Ford Ranger on it.

Another nice thing about a Texas CHL is that it is your background check for retail gun purchase. No phone call to BATF. You fill out 4473, pay, and walk out with your new gun.
