New article...I think the title says it all ("Diluted Proclamation"). Although the anti’s only had one speaker at the Cottonwood meeting, they were able to mobilize via a phone and email campaign. Not saying we rested on our laurels, but they obviously were able to make an impact with their efforts. Also, the governor may have twisted some arms since he’s in favor of a red flag type law.

Hard to tell if the train has left the station. Hopefully if enough people show up Thursday we can turn the tide and get a real resolution passed.

Good article. Sounds like the proclamation doesn't have much teeth. I hope the individual supervisors make their opinion on the matter known. I believe they are elected every 4 years.

..and we need to make it crystal clear that this will be their last term if they fail to support this. At the last meeting in Cottonwood SVT-40 talked to the board chairman. He indicated that the 2A sanctuary was essentially a done deal. We must demand a clear, concise explanation of why this didn't happen.

Attended the county meeting this morning in Prescott, got there around five after eight. Long lines, huge crowd. The place was packed! We ended up about five people away from the entrance to the council meeting room, standing room only. At least we got inside the building as it was very cold outside.

We listened to the public speakers until about 10:30, then we finally left due to wife almost falling over and my back aching from standing in one place so long. Since it was still ongoing, we skipped W&M and hit Zeke's for breakfast on the way home. Don't know yet was the outcome was.

General consensus I got was that the resolution was too watered down with no teeth. Everyone wanted 'sanctuary' style verbiage. Reps from Mojave Cty were there as well and also objected to the watered down language.

For what it's worth, I personally don't care if the term 'sanctuary' is in or out, but I do think some meaningful language restricting funding and enforcement for anti-2A laws is necessary. The resolution as read was flowery and all, but didn't go far enough. Whatever the outcome, something is still better than nothing.

I'll try to hit breakfast with you guys next time.

Several of us arrived at 0720 and got seats inside the room. A fantastic turnout of 2A supporters!

Of the 8 or so opponents that were called to talk, only two came forward with typical irrational ramblings and received no support from the crowd. Multiple supporters spoke including the Yavapai County Sheriff. All chastised the BOS for not adopting the sanctuary resolution proposed in the last meeting in Cottonwood. We left around 1100, so the outcome is unknown. The video of the meeting should be up tomorrow. I'll post a link when available.

                  Just saw this Facebook post:

Hat-tip to the Yavapai county board of supervisors for tabling a watered-down motion on the second Amendment sanctuary issue,
In favor of working on a better one.
Hopefully one with a stronger wording as in the Mojave county resolution.

I arrived 30 minutes before the doors were supposed to open and it was already standing room only. The support for 2nd Amendment sanctuary status was overwhelming!

the supervisors explained that they had removed the word "sanctuary" because it has become synonymous with a haven for criminals. This was not well received by the audience.

4 out of 5 supervisors are CCW permit holders.

It was a great meeting!! Was early and got a seat in the back of the room. Left at the break and had brunch with EBR works at Waffles n More.

It was heartening to have such a large turnout of pro 2A folks and especially to hear our Sheriff speak in support of a armed citizenry as well as publicly stating his opposition to any sort of new laws restricting the type of guns as well as magazine capacity.

I think the County supervisors got a good taste of just how strong the support for the 2A is in Yavapai County, and the need to strengthen their resolution.

maybe at the next meeting we can all get together afterwards for lunch???
                    Poke'm with a stick!

I have a feeling many of their followers don't reside in our county.

Sorry, I couldn't attend. I hope my numerous emails to the BoS helped a little. Mary, from the BoS, was the only one to reply to me. She thanked me for my talking points.

It sounds like it went very well. It's great that the Sheriff spoke in favor of the movement and that the BoS are listening to us. Thanks to all of you that went there in person today!

Today, January 2nd, the Yavapai County Board of Supervisors met in Prescott, Arizona to announced their decision to table the current proclamation on declaring Yavapai County a Second Amendment Sanctuary County. The proclamation that the Yavapai County Board of Supervisors is considering does not actually declare Yavapai County […]

I also sent emails to the BoS and only Mary responded. I am in Brown's district and was surprised he didn't respond so I'll try a phone call next. It is very nice to now live in a place where elected officials actually listen to their constituents.

Thanks to all that showed up and made all of our voices heard. Sorry I couldn't be there to help but glad it went fairly well.

I am sure this is just the first skirmish as the antis will never go away completely.

                            off topic:
When is the next Calguns refugee shoot? I hadn't moved when you guys had your last one.

I've found some really good spots here on forest land with 100+ yards. Happy to give a ride to anyone that may not have a high clearance vehicle. I have room for 3 and all their gear. LB is down in PHX and I think he would be interested too.
