Brian Williams lied about his direct fire exposure

I'm sure most of us are aware NBC anchor Brian Williams lied about his direct fire exposure while embedded with military personnel.

It reminds me how many expound upon their military experience to encroach upon Stolen Valor.

They slowly elevate themselves as the years go by and someone discharged as an E4 administrative clerk ends up a SGT Major or General by time they are in their 60's.

I suspect if time permitted him to continue down this path in another 10 years he would have been in a helo where the pilot was killed, and he took to the controls and safely landed it, got out and repelled the attackers with fallen soldiers' weapons.

I think they said he only mentioned that story 3 times, the part about his chopper being forced down, since it took place. I don't know if he was using it to further his career. He does look like a huge jackass for doing it, especially after he "reunited" with the 1st sergeant who "saved his life"

IMO the way NBC handled this affair shows just how committed our responsible and respected major networks are to giving Americans nothing but unbiased factual news reports.

I'd bet this was all agree in advance and he asked "how much?" and they pushed a paper with a 'figure' across the table and he said "Done!" and called his wife and said "Now I can stop all that lying that was bothering you and we can move".

Oliver North watched a CH-46 explode in the first attempt to push into Iraq. That invasion attempt was scrubbed because of a really bad sandstorm.
