    Army Reserves question

In the Reserves, do they issue you a ton of gear to take home like they do in Active Duty or do they just keep all the gear at the local armory/base/office?

Yes, they issue all that crap. It may take a while, it was over two years before I got mine. I honestly wasn't complaining and tried to avoid getting mine as long as possible. It's just all crap I now have to keep in storage (except for the helmet and load bearing vest for range days).

Then of course when I deployed I didn't use any of that stuff and they issued me the multicam stuff at CRC. It's just an expensive liability I have to hang on to until the day I get out.

My buddy has tons of gear. Hes also ROTC, so his school's BN gave him gear. Then he has his unit's gear issued to him. All the TA-50 you could ask for, this guys got it.... At least double of everything.

Only thing he hates is the dot rank on his uniform

Funny that you say that. In our supply building there is a Memo from a health inspection officer (posted on every single cage) stating to the effect that bio material from Rats has been found in our supply building, that MRE's were torn into, and that any use of MRE's stored in the building are at the risk and responsibility of our Commanders.

                  2nd Question, kind of related

Do you get the clothing allowance in the reserves? I threw away all of my ACUs and boots and minor **** (PT belts, ranks, patches...etc) when I ETSed and I have to report to drill next weekend.

Not that I recall. Basically, if you want free stuff you have to be Jr enlisted, and you'd likely have to turn in your thrashed stuff to supply and replace one for one.

It really depends on your unit. Don't hold your breath. You're not going to just walk in there and get a set of uniforms. I know my unit only has gas masks, and, radios, weapons , etc... in the supply cages. Everything else is special order.

Maybe the Army is different but Navy reserve we can do one for one uniform exchanges with rules, and your unit can request uniform items for you... My new unit totally outfits you

When you get your issue, uniforms or ta50, pay attention to the issue form and do not sign it if it isn't correct. When you get out, they pull that form out and compare it to your inventory. You will get special issues, do the same with those forms. Keep a copy at home in your safe. You will have to pay for anything you are missing. If in the course of your duties you lose anything, turn it in and get it replaced. Get paper work on every thing. Never take sensitive items home, rifles, parts or anything else.

Im med/reg. managed to find a used one for $15 at an army nave surplus store. Was actually in decent shape (though I woulda been happy for a torn up POS)

They didnt have my pants in stock used so I had to buy a new pair. $50...

Edit: forgot to mention, thank you for the offer!
