Anybody else here ever have hair too long for regs and wear a beanie to flatten it right before formations or work?

I now shave my head but my first few years in the army I liked to grow my hair out as much as possible

My buddy didn't care. He grew his hair to the 3 inch maximum. It would puss the squad leaders off. It would get measures every week but he had it 0 to 3 evenly graduated. So they couldn't do anything to him then harass him.
