    Anyone in USAFR Security Forces?

So I am a USN vet and I have been thinking about joining the Air Force Reserve Security Forces. I still have a strong itch to serve. I would like some input on those that have been in or are active reverse as to daily life, do you enjoy it, do you deploy, etc, etc. I know recruiters lie so I would like an honest response from anyone who is or was in. Thanks a bunch guys.

Can't speak for Air Force. But I am on the Army National Guard side. At JFTB Los Alamitos near Seal Beach, I see what the MP's or SECFOR guys do throughout the day.

I have a buddy who is SECFOR on base. Your day will start at the PMO office where you will check out a M9 at the armory. You'll be assigned to gate duties checking I.D.'s or doing vehicle patrols around the base 10-12 hours. Can't speak on deployments, but most MP's try and land a active duty position in the AGR or active guard reserve. I guess it will depend on what base your assigned to, some are more " eventful" than others. Otherwise you'll be spending alot of time in the guardshack.

Some bases have a Security/Law enforcement doctrine in mind. While others is almost purely just Security with little to no law enforcement powers.

I've taken the USAFR SECFOR Augmentee training at Channel Island ANG base as an CSMR soldier back in 2012. CAPO and other soldiers augment the CATM role on base there. We also man the SECFOR role at JFTB and potentially other armories as the SMR's mission grows.

In recruiting, we like to say that we recycle veterans, and it sounds like your trying to scratch the itch that many of vets were able to do by going the SMR while keeping our day jobs. Ping me if want to know more, or Google California state military reserves.

Why do people call it service? Its work.

For some of us, it is truly service, since I rarely get paid.
