    Now I know

why my dad never wanted to go out for dinner on Veterans day and get a free meal. We waited almost an hour to get into applebees tonight lol. Great food and great service but damn there were a lot of vets there!

For the younger guys its a game to see how many restaurants they can get into or if they can get more than one free meal. I usually never bother with those restuarants due to waits and they type of people I see there.

I went out with my family last year and I said never again. Instead we decided to go to my wife's favorite "fancy" Mexican joint. Barely anybody there and I got 50% off although I wasn't even aware they had any specials for veterans. Drove by the big shopping center where they had Famous Daves and Olive Garden. There were Joes lined up all outside the door to get their free meal lol.

I never go out to get free meals, but got one last night that I was not expecting. I went to a small place out here in AZ last night, and when I was paying at the register they asked if I was a Vet (they were asking everyone). My wife told them that I was, and they took my dinner off the check. I just put the price of the meal back on the table on top of the tip I already left.

I seriously thought about doing that as this is my first veterans day as a vet (every year while I was in, I was working shift work and i didnt care enough to try) but my daughter is only about 18 months and I didnt want to deal with her if she got fussy in public 4 or 5 times in one day lol
