    Camp SLO billeting

I was wondering if any of you had rented a room there? I'm trying to get a nicer room for me and my laddy to explore Morro Bay up the road.

I've been to SLO quite a few times and overall, nice base compared to Camp Roberts.

I've stayed for duty related and personal reasons, my wife had no complaints when we visited. The rooms aren't fancy, but they are clean and cheap. I haven't rented one of the houses yet, I understand they are a bit nicer than the other rooms.

That's good to hear. I've stayed in the previous squadbay and OCS beds before. Let me tell you how much nicer those OCS barracks were compared to the enlisted side ha. But, thanks for the info Doug!

Unless you are getting a room in the Senior NCO (E-8 and E-9) billeting or the officers billeting, I would skip on it. My E-7's and below get rooms that are equivalent of Camp Roberts billeting...which suck.

Cheap and clean. DFAC allows civilians, I did my Police Academy at camp SLO and have stayed a few times since.

The stay in Morro Bay is much nicer imo and not much more during offseason

I wrapped up SMR OCS at SLO last fall, and those that could get a basic room found them acceptable. I opted to put up my family at the Hampton in Arroyo Grande, and I think it was $180 a night with military discount.

It will probably be cheaper, but room availability is hit and miss depending on deployments, training or cadre for NG / SMR OCS.

I personally found the SGM quarters to be pretty nice, two bedroom with a living room and kitchenette, they are the two buildings over by USPFO, Haven't been there in a few years, new battalion has a love affair with Roberts, there two to three months at a time.

Brought back fond memories seeing this thread.

Used to sleep inside the small huts before they were demolished to build the barracks.

Rented billeting there before both room and a house:
Clean. Quaint. Affordable. Nice outdoor feel to it at night since it's quiet off HWY 1.
Call in advance though there might be classes or activities going on for LEOs or CAARNG. There's a nice golf course not far from the camp as well.
