Graduation gift

My son is at Ft. Benning Ga. gonna graduate US Army infantry in May gonna be a Delta Dawg.
Any suggestions on a graduation gift, gonna build him an AR but want something
i can take to Ga. for his graduation.

Or honestly just ask him hey I want to buy you a gift what can I get you? Everyone is different but I can say out of bootcamp SOI I got a bunch of motto gifts from family and I never use any of them most of them I don't even like. Before I left for my first deployment my Dad asked me what he could buy me that I would need/use while I was gone. It's something that means alot to me because we went together and bought it and I take it almost everywhere with me now when I leave garrison.

If he's gonna be living in the barracks I would refrain from gifting him a firearm. Too much hassle just to check them in and out IMHO YMMV. A nice Benchmade folder or a GPS watch is what I would want. Or even new boots because the issued boots are heavy and are not ideal to ruck in. The Nike SFB's or Rocky C4T's are quite popular purchases.

My daughter in law got him a watch, i'm gonna look into a nice knife and maybe have a friend do some engravings on it.
He did mention wanting a 1911 how does a handgun work since he is only

I've owned a lot of knifes and the only 2 that have lived to tell about it are my kbar tanto that has been through hell and back and my edc benchmade auto-presidio. The nimivarus is a great knife and would serve him well for a really long time. It's also smaller and easier to carry then a full size kbar.

A good knife is always a good gift. I bought a Zero Tolerance pocket knife a few months after I joined and I have carried it ever since. It has taken a beaten and is still and awesome knife.

chances are unless he is living off post when he gets to his duty station he will NOT keep the gun, itll be locked up in his companies arms room, and our arms room guy made it a huge hassel in order to pull out your personal firearm. needed something like a 3 week advanced notice and could only keep it out for 2 hours at a time.

as far as a pistol goes, depends on where he is stationed. I bought a nice majority of my firearms while stationed in Georgia, most lenient gun laws in the country
