    Seoul here I come

Well looks like my goal of staying on the west coast totally backfired haha. Don't really mind just bummed cause I will have to wait till I come back to build or get anymore weapons. I have heard a lot of mixed opinions about Korea, just curious what you guys had to say.

Really hot or really cold. Pretty much one of the least desirable places to go. Take it easy on the soju.

Way before your time I used to fly in and out of Korea in the early 70's.
My youngest daughters step son just got orders to Korea.

Orders say Yongsan but I know things could possibly change when I get there. I will definitely give you guys a status report on the kind of electronics when I get there. Interested in seeing what kind of phones they have over there.

Well so far so good I guess. I haven't seen anything amazing or new when it comes to phones just a lot cheaper. But on another note wow this place is crowded.

It's okay if you can stay out for few days, but I am sure you will have to be back by midnight every day. Also, watch out for elders because they do not like US military members.

I'm always amused by the animosity of the locals due to the needs of their home country and it's reliance on America.

I always enjoy pointing out that although there are American bases in germany, there are no german bases in America.

Although there are American bases in italy, there are no italian bases in America.

Although there are American bases in UAE, there are no UAE bases in America. Etc, etc, etc.

Same for korea. "Hey elder instead of disliking American service members maybe you should have contempt for your own country since it's only way of life still involves nibbling on the nuts of America."

Our oldest son and family spent about 14 years in Osan, as a linguist (AF) and they liked it generally. Kids got a good education.

                        Respectfully,
                        Kyle

I enjoyed the 2 times I was in Korea. The cabbies are crazy though. I never experienced any animosity while I was there.

I was at Kunsan from 88' to 89'. The only good thing about it was all the TDY's to the PI, Japan, Oki, and Singapore. The cab drivers were maniacs. Most of the old folks liked Americans because we helped get rid of the Japanese during WWII and the Chinese during the Korean War. It was the young college students that kept firebombing the main gate and staging protests. 20+ years have passed, who knows what the issues are there now.
