This thread is for those who are currently or recently stationed at Edwards AFB. Is it easy, hard, or impossible to obtain the official letter signed by the base commander required for an assault weapon permit? Page 2 of the MAWP application reads "to use personal assault weapons in military sanctioned activities...". The fact that there is a Rod and Gun club on base leads me to believe that there are military sanctioned activities on base.

There are no military sanctioned activities at the rod and gun club. It is operated by outdoor rec. The military range is mostly cops and training only. -
This needs to be challenged in the courts.
The intention of the law was to exempt military that PCS into CA from being separated or inconvenienced from their personal property. They added the commander letter requirement later basically killing the exemption.National Rifle Association (NRA) Life Patriot Endowment Member
