    Just Got DD214

Well with the down sizing and all monday was my last day of active duty and I got my DD214. 11 years 2 months.
Looks like I'm going to use up some VA GI bill and go back to school.

Mine's Friday. They are not issuing new orders (it's final) regardless of a congressional budget. I'll be put back on reserve status.

        Best of luck to you.

Good luck to you. Get with your school VA rep to get your paperwork started. I was in the same path few years back and I'm glad I had the GI bill to help me transition to civilian life.

When I was in during the early 90s downsizing,it seemed like they cut all the E-5-6s that wanted to stay in.

            Good luck.

Thank you for your service! Keep that DD214 Handy and make sure and talk with the local veterans advisor at your school as they can really help you make a very low cost entry into a good program. Lots of friends are currently making the most out of the GI Bill and the stipend that goes with it. And if you are looking for work don't forget Orion International who is great at pairing up ex military with good jobs. They got me my first one out the door when I retired. BTW... how are you with Mil Radios? We're Hiring... =]

GI/Yellow Ribbon is insane money. I hate to see vets who don't use it. Plain stupid not to. $1500+ a month for full time students for living...how can you find an excuse not to use it? My Masters from a private school ended up costing me about $8K out of pocket since my school decided to match vet funds.

Congrats! I got off of active duty at 11 years and 8 months but I went in to the reserves. It was too much time to let go. Glad I did though, got a decent little pension waiting for me when I turn 60.

Welcome to the 1st Civ Div! Now, go photocopy your 214, keep it in your wallet, and put the other in a safe or safe deposit box somewhere. You never know when you'll need it.

214 satisfies the Arizona CCW requirement for training, btw.
