    Rifle range

I'm stationed at Travis AFB and have been looking for a good rifle range in the area...however all the ranges I've found locally are indoor pistol ranges. Anyone know where I can go shoot my rifles without having to drive hours to a state/national forest?

    Thanks!

    Try United Sportsmen in Concord.

I agree with United Sprotsman in Concord. Good place to go.

Stay away the weekend of and the weekend after any gun show in the Bay Area as all the idiots that have no clue tend to go "blasting".

the guys at the desk are great and will give you a pretty decent discount on range fees and ammunition for being either active duty or veteran. It is not too far from Travis, maybe 30 minutes.

Always flying the National Flag and Marine Colors.

This! I'm stationed at Travis too. That's the fee for shooting all day so I usually spend a few hours out there. I've only been once but I'm back in Afghanistan so I'll buy a few new guns and head back out there. The drive is like 40-45 mins but it's not bad. Definately check it out, plenty of room to spread out and friendly when I was there.

Yolo Sportsman Association is the closest up there off 505 next to the county airport. LOL, you'll even see the parachutists flying about 500 feet above the range some days. They've got a decent year long membership fee, plus you can add your family for a few bucks more. Only thing is they don't prorate the membership fees which run from December to the next.

If you ever find yourself going on up to Beale AFB, CA DFG has got some land with a public range for free.
