    Amending a DD-214

Just found out I was awarded a Navy Unit Commendation for working with NSW on my '09-'10 deployment.

Got the orders yesterday, would it be worth the trouble to actually amend my DD-214? I'd like to just in-case I end up Enlisting again, but is it really worth all the trouble?

Has anyone done this themselves? If anyone has insight on this it would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

Not a big deal getting a NUC it is for the unit and not a personal award.

Well actually if your unit earns a Unit Commendation while serving in it you are authorized to continue wearing it once you leave the unit. This happened when we had guys PCS after my Unit earned a Meritorious Unit Commendation.

Yes, get it amended. You don't want to be those old vets who don't know what they rate or have your kids trying to figure it out. In my opinion it's the name as not making sure your srb and medical records aren't correct.

If you haven't seen it with your own eyes,
or heard it with your own ears,
don't make it up with your small mind,
or spread it with your big mouth.

Yes, it is worth it. If you are entitled to it...then get it! You need a DD-215 amendment. Contact your unit Admin. department! Been there & done that, dude. Get your DD-214 amended. It's just paperwork. That is what Admin. people get paid for, right? Make them earn their pay. If you've earned it, then you deserve it. It is better to do this sooner than later. Take care of business!

This/\ you earned that, make sure it is documented.

Even if you never re-tread and wear it, you can add it to your sig line
