I believe if a slot opens for your secondary while still in basic and before AIT you can switch. Why don't you ask him?

he said he can land me a secondary slot in the mos i want he just has to ask for it to be approved but i want to know what having a secondary slot in the mos i want means as compared to it being a primary slot? I mean is he just telling me it wont be primary if he gets me into the mos i want, in order to try and make me pick an mos that is open or needs to be filled?

Dont sign up for anything thats not in your contract. If its not what you want then dont do it. Ive seen too many people go in with F'ed up paperwork and get hammered while in.

Dude ask him what he means. If you wouldn't be satisfied with your primary MOS being what you'll do in the military don't join.

Because if it's in your paperwork, you will always get what they "promise" you?

Plenty of people i know had contracts that said they would get their job choice, but then they rocked out of A-School and got sent to a different MOS.

Besides, if you read the contract there is a clause that states "as per needs of the United States Armed Forces" regarding what you're "promised."

Since nobody wants to say "i didn't read the fine print" everyone instead says "my recruiter lied to me and screwed up my papers." (despite the fact that homeboy wanted to be a fighter pilot with his 36 ASVAB score and 20/400 vision.)

The military isn't a rose garden. But you will get what you put into it. If you work hard, do your job, learn and better yourself, it won't matter what job you have because you'll be a better person.
RIP Cpl Contreras, Sgt Atwell and LtCol Raible.

                It's the guard not active
It means you can get the field but not the job for instance
If you wanted jet mechanic but it is full you can get the aviation field until a mech slot opens up. The problem is if your not in a specific job you can only advance , so far.
