What I don't understand is that if you smoke pot, or snort coke. All they want you do is pass a piss test.. If you were honest about your usage are they going to make you wait a year too? No.

There was a guy here in another thread who got a drug-related DUI 12 years ago and has since redeemed himself and started a family... he's inelligible for any branch right now; yet someone who smoked weed every day until a week before walking into the recruiters office will get in (Until DSS comes knocking on his pothead buddy's door while doing a TS/SCI clearance interview, that is). It ain't always fair, I'll completely agree with you there.

Thats what I'm saying. How do you know the pot heads and the other drug users. Haven't sustained heavy damage from their usage? Or acid, how do you test for flashbacks? It should be the same standard for RX meds, given the reason for issuance isn't a major medical problem like you said.

          Hey Cactus,
Its perfectly normal if you get lethargic and listless. And I would be worried to those who don't get lethargic because then, I wonder what drugs they're on. Don't sweat it, Cactus. My friend is a Marine in the Artillery and if one of his comrades feels tired, they got each others back. You will experience a tight bond between your comrades like no other. Once you graduated basics, you may seek to be on the medication to help you. During war, snipers and other soldiers used a form of adderall (small dose) to help them with their accuracy after not sleeping at night. So there's nothing wrong to be on Adderall if its used for only the right times and if its a very tiny dose (after your military dr. prescribed it to you)
p.s your screen name makes me want to drink a classic cactus cooler.

After all this, I was better off just buying crack... At least theres no paper trail.. God forbid I listen to my doc..

As a former recruiter, the damn Moment of Truth was where people got popped. Had one kid tell me he never had any type of hospital admissions. Found out later on that he blabbed about having broken his leg twice and having several concussions (he did martial arts).

They called me up while he was on deck and i had to sweet talk the receptionist at the hospital to rush me his documents (one form of the enlistment packet is a release for medical documentation, so i didn't have to go through any red tape to get hipaa stuff) then drive an hour north to drop the pages off at meps.

Best bet- go back to the doc, tell him you don't like/want the meds anymore and have him sign a paper saying he doesn't feel you need any medications. You'll go in with a clean bill of health and paperwork to back it up.

sidenote: every damn doctor out there is convinced that kids all have ADD/ADHD and asthma. I had kids come to my office all the time answering "do you or have you ever had asthma/used an inhaler?" with a yes, then i find out they're track/soccer/football stars who haven't used an inhaler since the age of 9.

DOCTORS-----STOP THINKING THERE ARE MAGIC PILLS TO SOLVE EVERYTHING!

Very good point! I just actually woke up from a nap, I was feeling tired again. I stopped taking the meds, so I'm back on energy drinks again...
