    EAS coming up?

For those of you guys getting out soon, here is a place to post about questions you may have about the civilian life etc.

Here is my two cents, if you don't already have a job lined up once you get out whether it be from the Army, Marine Corps, Air Force, Navy etc. make sure you utilize the GI Bill.

Better yet, if you have 20% disability or higher I suggest trying to get into Chapter 31 Voc Rehab. It is an awesome program and it is almost like the Chapter 33 but they do more than that. You'll get your housing allowance as long as you still have time on your Chapter 33 and they'll even provide you a laptop or computer that you "need". However before you do so make sure you read up on it. I've met vets that have utilized Voc Rehab to get their masters degree once their Chapter 33 was exhausted. I wish I had known this when I got out.

Also, if you live in California apply for Unemployment this will definitely help with finances once you are out. Add that plus full BAH if you are full time student and you will have enough funds to live comfortably and focus more on school.

If any of you guy getting out have questions feel free to posts here and I'm sure one of us can answer them.

If you're getting out, and haven't decided to go back to school, but are still having trouble finding jobs, look at Orion International.

They are a job-hunting firm who specialize in making your military MOS saleable to civilian companies.

When i got out, i immediately got interviews with Google, Syserco, Rapiscan, Siemens, Toshiba, and Orion International itself. They took my resume, and adjusted it for things that civilian companies look for, as well as tailoring it to the different companies they submitted me for. Example, for Syserco, they were looking for sales experience, so they took my leadership and recruiting experience and focused on that in the resume. At Siemens and Toshiba, they were looking for technical ability and independence. At google, they wanted the technical savvy, along with the ability to work with others.

Best part is that i didn't have to pay them anything. The companies hire Orion to find you. If you're lucky, they have a hiring conferences with several companies during the time you're looking. You go to the conference, and all the companies already have your resume. You spend an hour going over procedures, then you get interviewed by up to 10 companies in one day.

You can also get interviewed while you're still active duty, so you can have a job lined up immediately after you get done with terminal leave.

There are plenty of companies out there looking for capable and talented service members.
RIP Cpl Contreras, Sgt Atwell and LtCol Raible.
