June in Great Lakes is an interesting time. Hot IMO is better than 30 below winters, but the interesting thing is June is the time for all the high school grads.
If you are older than 18-19 you will be the old guy

If going in as a GM, try your damn best to be a VLS tech, if you can't get that go 5 inch...as a GM you can and will be afforded the opportunity to attend Small arms instructor courses along with torpedo handling as well. Don't worry about handling guns because as duty gunners mate on your first ship you will get sick and tired of doing the D-1 on every 9mm, shotgun and M4 that is turned in to you every 4 hours inport once every 3 or 6 days depending on the ship.

PS...You don't just go in as a seal team delivery member...YOU WILL BE A SURFACE WARRIOR 99% of the time.

All I can say is try to get with a seal delivery team or Mp unit. Somewhere where people train for weapons as GM's are usually the range masters
