    Full discharge DD214?

    when do you get it?
My contract time (IRR) was done 6/2011. I just got my Honorable certificate/award in the mail but no DD214. I requested it through archives but it takes 90 days according to the website. Is it still on its way? Anywhere I can call besides archives to get a copy? I need one ASAP.

Thats weird. I got my DD214 once i turned in my ID after terminal leave. If i were you I'd request at least 5 copies. You may need them later. When my buddy requested his it took 2 months.

You only get a DD214 when you seperate from Active Duty. As previously stated, you should've had it in hand when you actually left active duty. You won't get one for reserve or IRR time. Aside from requesting it from the Archives, you can try requesting your entire military service record. Depending on your branch of service, your HQ might still have your records before they transfer it to the Archives after your discharge. USMC Manpower still had my OMPF a few months after I was discharged. Took about 3 weeks to get a CD-ROM of my OMPF (which has copies of the DD214 in it).

I had been retired for 6 years and needed a DD214. Sent a request to the national archives but NPC still had my record. Sent them a request and got my entire service record on CD. I can now print DD214's and they were official enough to be OK for a VA loan.

Thread where I got mine with links. Should work for Navy or Marines.

I say get in touch with your past unit retention NCO as they should've given you your DD214 Long form or Member 4 as well as a member 2 the 2nd you turned in all your TA-50 or CIF and signed seperation papers! Shame on them!

Your best bet for requesting records is through your Branches Personnel Offices. The National Archives dont hold them for most new Personnel. If you go to this site Request Military Records then you can request a copy of yours including a DD-214. You can also find a link to request replacement Awards and Medals.

You will not receive a DD214 for end of your IRR commitment.

+1 DD214 is discharge from ACTIVE DUTY, Your DD214 from active duty training might have confused you into thinking you are going to get a "final" one later. When I completed my initial training (Army) and returned to my Reserve unit my DD214 says "uncharacterized"

                        Read this. http://www.military.com/opinion/0,15202,131582,00.html

Here is a Navy Reserve letter saying that they are entitled to a discharge certificate and a pin (No DD214 mentioned).

ok. All the active duty and IRR stuff aside....where do I get a "member 4" copy?
The LEO agency I applied for is asking for it.

This. All I got was my DD214 when I left active duty. Even after my MSO was up I never got an "honorable discharge certificate."

You can only give them your DD214 from your school and temp duty
